通过对一位10岁台湾小朋友以诺第一次做客吉林市及结识吉林小朋友的亲身体验和真实感受的纪实，讲述了小主人公在祖国吉林省吉林市的见闻及自身的心理变化，从一开始的不适应到慢慢接受再到最终爱上这里。。续集故事发生在远眺酒店事件的35年后，麦克格雷格扮演的丹尼现在是一家老年关怀医院中，负责临终危重病人的一名心灵伤痕累累的护理员。他被迫监护一名与他有着相似能力的女孩Abra Stone。丹尼随后发现自己要从Rose the Hat手中保护Abra，前者是一个邪教头头，以拥有通灵能力的孩子为食。。Brooke, a plain but creative and hard-working student at the top fashion school in the nation, who has come a long way from her tough childhood spent going from one foster home to another as an orphan.
