该片改编自同名儿童小说，麦卡锡将同原著作者斯蒂芬·帕斯蒂斯共同编剧。该小说讲述一个11岁的小男孩蒂米·菲悟，他是一个毫无头绪，却又自信搞笑的私家侦探机构总裁。而他的搭档是一只想象出的北极熊。。影片讲述郑板桥在乾隆二年时进京赶考，原考第一后被改在第88名，并不给安排官职，回乡一等就是十年，十年后，他带当时的皇帝给他出的对联的下联进京，皇帝看中他，但不能用他。。Restoration carried out by the National Museum of Singapore and the World Cinema Foundation.
